Goodbye Ray Harryhausen June 29, 1920 – May 7, 2013

Today we said goodbye to the man who is – in my view – responsible for the special effects industry as it is today. Without Ray Harryhausen the movies would not be the thrill they are. Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, none of these series, or any others like them would have been around if not for the work of this affects genius.

A legend in every sense of the word, and he will be sorely missed by us all.

Sinbad, Clash of the Titans, these are movies that I will watch every time they are on TV. The years have passed, the movies themselves have become dated, but you cannot help by become enthralled in the story, and I still find myself stunned by the special effects, and masterful creatures that were so lovingly created.

Goodbye Mr. Harryhausen!

      1. Definitely. We have Titans on DVD and I’m hoping to get Jason at some point. There’s something about the stop motion that’s mesmerizing. lol

  1. A well respected craftsman in the sci-fi and horror communities. I’m glad he finally recieved Lifetime Achievment Awards from the Academy Awards, many years after his hey-day. They were long over do.
