Keeping to a Schedule

I don’t even want to hazard a guess at how many blogs have been posted this week beginning with a phrase along the lines of

“The new year has arrived”, or

“With the new year…”

but who can blame us right. A new year is the perfect time to allow ourselves the chance to change our way of working. It is no different to any other day in terms of impact, but there is something undeniably clean about instigating change on January 1st.

I am no different. I have decided to adopt a smarter approach to my blogging endeavors this year, and hopefully see an increase in viewing figures. Last year started well, but so did my posts, then around about the middle, as life took over, they dried up and I found myself falling behind with the blog, and at times forgetting about it altogether.

Not this year!

By the power of Greyskull… no

By the power invested in me… no that’s not it either.

I pledge… bollocks,

I’m going to use the scheduling tool to get blog posts written up and planned in advance. I am thinking 2 posts a week schedule should be enough. Monday and Friday. That also leaves me room for ย re-blogs, interviews and anything spontaneous that may come up, but which cannot wait for an open slot.

Whether it will work of not remains to be seen, but I figure the least it will do is give me a little breathing room, regulate my online presence and stabilize things a little.

2014 is all about me working smarter.

Work Smarter

I also hope, that by working in this way, I will free up some more time to not only read books, but review them also, maybe even a movie here and there.

Only time will tell if this works, but it is worth a shot.

I am interested to know, how many people use the blog schedule options that many sites provide.

Have you decided the change the way your work for 2014?

  1. Alex,

What scheduling tool are you using? You didn’t mention that in your post. I desperately need a scheduling program to help me organize my college homework with my writing time.

Keep up the great work, and I look forward to your Monday and Friday blogs. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. I went in the opposite direction this year. I used to have a weekly review, but I was feeling drained and it was difficult to get into the flow of writing knowing I had to read a book a week so I only post reviews occasionally now. I’ll probably go back to doing regular reviews again at some point, but I got a lot I need to finish up first. Best of luck, hope it works out for you. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. thanks man. I will only review when I have something. I won’t schedule a regular thing. Posts every Monday and Friday, what the content will be will depend on what has come to me ๐Ÿ™‚ I have a few weeks already stored up. It is a nice feeling, knowing I don’t have to force them.
