It has been a painfully long time since I actually wrote a post for this blog. I’ve copied and pasted a lot, re-blogged a fair bit and that has been it.
Don’t get me wrong, it has not been for any reason more malicious than that fact that my day job has been killing me, and my free time (what’s that?) has been somewhat reduced. However, here I am ready to jot a few words down for you.
Don’t get too excited, I am not about to give voice to a great world secret or some fascinating insight into the world of men, women, mortals and gods. Rather, this is just an announcement on the current project I am writing on.
Hey, if I haven’t blogged in a while, I may as well make the fist post about me, right?
For the last month or so I have been working on the third installment of the Highway to Hell trilogy. However, in the last few weeks I have found my progress slowing, the story becoming diluted and feel generally uninterested in it. So I have decided to shelve that plan for a few months, re-edit the 45,000 words that I have and come back to it afresh at a later date.
In the meantime I have started working on a new zombie novel. Diaries of the Damned is selling very well at the moment, and the story just came to me demanding to be written. Who am I to stand in the way of such powerful forces.
This novel, Island of the Damned (can you see the naming convention there?) will not be linked to the Diaries, but will form part of a trilogy of novels. The ‘Damned’ books will all be separate titles exploring the perils and adventures that can be had once the dead rise.
I started writing it on Tuesday and am currently at 5,800 words. I have no set goal on how long this novel will be or what will happen, but it the rest of it is as fun as the start, then I am in for a very pleasant writing experience.
Happy writing
Alex
